SeaSpace Corporation introduces TeraScan® processing for Suomi JPSS. TeraScan® is an end-to-end environmental data processing solution that automatically processes large EOS datasets from raw to level 2 products. TeraScan® for JPSS supports processing of raw data acquired from any direct broadcast ground station, or can use level 1 calibrated SDR data from the NOAA CLASS archive. The processing requirements for JPSS are large, and therefore SeaSpace recommends pairing the software with the TeraScan® Rapid Environmental X-treme processor, T-REX™.
TeraScan® for JPSS processes data from the VIIRS, ATMS, and CrIS sensors. Configuration files allow the user to process any or all of the SeaSpace supported products, therefore further minimizing production time. Updated algorithms are supplied to users through TeraScan® software updates.
TeraVision™ is the main tool for visualization in the TeraScan® software package. It enables the user to perform a wide range of image manipulations, including enhancements; color adjustments; addition of overlays such as coastlines and political boundaries, lat/lon grids, and bathymetry or topography contours; and annotation of meteorological symbols, weather fronts, text, and color legends.
TeraVision™ provides tools for combining images through mathematical functions, and data analysis tools for generating and displaying statistics in the form of histogram plots, profile plots, Skew T diagrams, and scatter plots. TeraVision™\’s measurement tools allow the user to determine distance, bearing, area, perimeter, mean, median, minimum, maximum, and standard deviation.
Finally, TeraVision™ provides the means to export images, with embedded overlays, annotations, image enhancements and other adjustments, to standard graphics formats, such as JPEG, GIF, TIFF, PNG, and avi/mpeg movies files.
The TeraScan® Vulcan software is a sophisticated software program that detects and monitors wildfires. Vulcan downloads real-time, high-resolution data directly from satellites and processes the data into maps that show the location, estimated size and intensity of wildfires. This data is transmitted to users via email or other user-defined options.
Vulcan™ is useful for anyone who needs to access up-to-date fire detection, such as emergency managers. It is also a wonderful tool for agencies to share data with the public via their web site. Vulcan™ uses data from the NOAA, MetOp, Aqua, Terra, JPSS, and Himawari satellites.
CLOUD3D™ is a visualization tool that allows a TeraScan® user to display cloud-top data over an earth-surface background in 3D. It enhances the user\’s ability to grasp complex atmospheric phenomena by giving them a way to interact with the data in three dimensions. Atmospheric stability is dependent on the vertical as well as horizontal structure. CLOUD3D™ allows the user to display satellite clouds using cloud-layer and cloud-top geometries, and then animate them over time and location. CLOUD3D™ provides meteorologists with a comprehensive visualization of the atmosphere.
CLOUD3D™ allows data queries of target objects and background topography for variables such as temperature, location, and surface topography, Cloud layers and geometry can interactively be enhanced via a mouse, resulting in optimization of angle and mesh resolution.
The TeraScan® Rapid Environmental X-treme processor (T-REX™) is now offered in response to the extreme processing requirements required to process VIIRS data from the JPSS satellite. T-REX™ has the ability to be paired with any brand direct broadcast ground station or used for processing of Level 1 calibrated SDR data from the NOAA CLASS archive.
T-REX™ currently processes VIIRS data to Level 1b, but will include access to software upgrades for processing to Level 2, and the addition of the ATMS and CrIS sensors. All data is output in four formats which are HDF5, TDF, JPG, and GeoTiff. T-REX™ is easy to set-up and monitor using a GUI that includes a product preview page of thumbnail product image JPG’s.
Introducing the TeraScan® data cataloging system, called TeraCat III™. TeraCat III™ is a cataloging tool that allows you to archive, search, and retrieve data through a web-based interface. TeraCat III™ is an all-inclusive system that includes a server, database and software. Use TeraCat III™ to access and view your data from wherever you are located via the web, or to share your data with customers. However you use TeraCat III™, it is bound to make your life easier. TeraCat III™, paired with TeraVault™ (see separate product brochure), is the answer to your growing data storage and retrieval requirements.
The HimawariCast system is configured to work with a 2.4m parabolic reflector antenna and a LNB which amplifies and downconverts the signal. The system uses a DVB-S2 receiver for real-time reception from Himawari-8. The system is built with proven TeraScan Software for automated reception, processing, and visualization of Level 1/2 products from Himawari-Cast and HimawariCloud data feeds.
