Find the latest avcal and nitpix coefficients for HRPT data here. The NOAA-16/avcal.coef and NOAA-17/avcal.coef files get updated approximately every month. The coefficients for NOAA-16 (channels 1and 2) and the coefficients for NOAA-17 (channels 1, 2 and 3A) get updated.The coefficients are obtained from NOAA/NESDIS.

Note: The last AVHRR calibration update for NOAA-14 was made on 14AUG2002. No further updates are planned by NOAA due to the unreliable operation of the NOAA-14 AVHRR instrument. The original avcal.coef file contains coefficients for NOAA-9, NOAA-10, NOAA-11, NOAA-12 and NOAA-14, and can be found in $SATDATA.

Note: Insure you place the appropriate file under the correct directory. NOAA-16 avcal.coef must be placed in the $SATDATA/noaa-16 directory on your system. NOAA-17 avcal.coef must be placed in the $SATDATA/noaa-17 directory on your system. The file must be called avcal.coef in either case.

Note: Insure you place the files under the $PASSDIR/satel directory on your system. The file must be called nitpix.coef.
