TacSAS, the portable TeraScan(R) systems (antenna, hardware and software), are easily deployable for military operations. Depending on your needs, there are three different TacSAS systems.
TacSAS-FM acquires data directly from geostationary meteorological satellites and automatically generates weather images ranging from full-disc earth views to high-resolution views of the local region. It consists of an antenna and other hardware easily assembled in 15 minutes or less into a fully functional meteorological station from components transported in two ruggedized, protective cases, all of which fit in a HMMWV-sized vehicle.
TacSAS-TPM is ideal for field operations from mission planning to ordnance targeting. It provides both automated reception and processing of direct-broadcast weather and environmental data from the NOAA and DMSP series of low-earth-orbiting (LEO) satellites. The entire dual-telemetry system fits into a HMMWV-sized vehicle and is easily deployed into a fully functional ground station within 10 minutes.
TacSAS-THM is identical to the TacSAS-TPM except that the system is equiped so it can acquire data while traveling on paved surfaces at speeds up to 50 mph or can be deployed in the same fashion as the TPM model.
